Healthy Holiday Challenge

Most Americans gain an average of about 1 pound during the holidays. While this might not seem like a lot, they usually don’t lose it. And over time, it adds up.

To help you beat the odds this year, we are offering the Healthy Holiday Challenge. This 8-week program can help you stay focused on eating healthy and fitting in exercise – a great way to keep off the extra pounds!

Healthy Holiday Challenge takes place Nov. 13, 2022 through Jan. 8, 2024.

The program encourages individuals to maintain their health over the holidays by including the following:

  1. Free Race Registration for Turkey Trot and Twilight Race offered by the Blair Regional YMCA
  2. Training guide for the run or walk for the race from qualified BRY staff
  3. Weigh-in at the beginning of November (week of 11/13/23) and weigh-out at the beginning of January (week of 1/8/24)
  4. Healthy recipes over the holidays
  5. Weekly educational video for healthy nutrition and healthy exercise
  6. Points for participating in the following: sending pictures of healthy foods based off of recipes distributed, exercising at the Y or on your own, attending lunch and learn workshops, attending the races- all points are multiped by the total percentage weight lost during the challenge
    1. Point formula calculated by BRY staff
  7. Prize basket with giftcards to various local healthy restaurants will be distributed to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner ($100 first place, $75 2nd place, $50 3rd place).

Cost: Members $20; Nonmembers $40

Step 2: Print the weekly personal tracking sheet (this document will be emailed out to all participants)

Step 3: Weigh-in and record to track your activity and success on the weekly personal tracking each week.
